Simple Watercoloring w/ Perfectly Blessed Feathers

Hello crafty friends! I am excited to be sharing a new video with you today that I created for the RG Avenue monthly newsletter. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a piece of 5" x 3 3/4" piece of Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. Using the Layered Scallop stamp set, I stamped half of the scalloped image in Sour Mist ink on the lower half of the white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner also using Sour Mist ink. I splattered the entire image with Sweet Lavender ink. Using Scalloped Stitched Rectangle dies, I cut a piece of Sour Mist cardstock and matted the stamped image to that before adhering both to the card base. I heat embossed the feathers with gold embossing powder and watercolored them with Sour Mist ink, Sweet Pink ink and Sweet Lavender ink. Lastly, I tied a small bow around the card for added texture.

Card details:

The base of this A2 sized card is made from Sour Mist cardstock. On a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of mixed media paper, I created a watercolor wash background in Sour Mist ink, Sweet Pink ink and Sweet Lavender ink. I splattered the entire background with Sweet Lavender ink. On coordinating cardstock, I stamped the feathers from the Perfectly Blessed stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I fussy cut each flower and adhered it to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I stamped each sentiment below the feather in Black Taffy ink.

Concord & 9th Vintage Flower

I have recently been trying to expand some of my creative endeavors to include the "messy things." I'm talking about mediums like watercolor, stenciling, pastes and Distress Oxide inks. All of these things typically give me a lot of anxiety, but I am finally (and ever so slowly) beginning to open up and appreciate these arts and embrace each learning experience, all while forgiving the mess! Today I am sharing a variety of watercolored cards using the "Vintage Flower" stamp by Concord and 9th.

*All cards were made nearly identical in layout, I simply varied the color scheme. A full supply list is located at the end of this post.

The base of each A2 sized card is made from a solid colored cardstock (Blueberry Bushel, Bermuda Bay, Pear Pizzazz, Highland Heather and Gorgeous Grape). I then cut a frame out of white cardstock using the Papertrey Ink "Mix and Mat: Plaid Die." I stamped the sentiment "Feel Better" on most of the cards in either the corresponding ink color, or I heat embossed it in gold. I stamped the large vintage flower in Versamark ink on watercolor paper and heat embossed some using white embossing powder and others using gold embossing powder to see how different each looked. I used Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to add color to each flower. After each flower was dried, I used the coordinating die to cut each flower out and I adhered the flower to the card using foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a couple randomly placed clear rhinestones to each card for added sparkle.

Blue-tiful

I have been experimenting a lot with watercolor recently. Last September I took two classes on watercoloring at the Scrapbook Expo in Ontario, California, and I was able to experiment with a variety of different mediums used for watercoloring. We learned about the Kuretake Gansai Watercolor Palette, Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens, Zig Watercolor Clean Brushes and Tim Holtz Distress Crayons. These were great classes for me because I was able to discover certain mediums that I liked (Zig and Spectrum Noir) and others that I didn't thoroughly enjoy (Distress Crayons). For today's "blue-tiful" floral card, I used the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens. These Sparkle pens are just like the Wink of Stella pens that we all love, except in color!

The base of this slimline card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" inches. The base is made from Blue Raspberry cardstock. I cut a 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock to mount onto the blue base. I stamped the sentiment in blue ink in the upper right hand corner of this white cardstock before adhering it to the card base. I stamped the large flower from the Simon Says Stamp Beautiful Flowers stamp set in Versamark ink. I heat embossed the image with white embossing powder. I die cut the flowers using the Beautiful Flowers die. I colored the large flower with Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens in blues and green. Once the image dried, I adhered it to the slimline card using foam adhesive. I also punched some extra leaves out of blue and green sparkle paper, that I tucked behind the main image for added sparkle
