Fall is here friends whether you are jumping on the pumpkin spice bandwagon or not! P.S. - I'm totally here for it! Fall is my absolute favorite time of year because of the cooler weather and the leaf changing season.
I'm excited to share with you a fun new stamp set from Newton's Nook called "Autumn Mice." I recently chose to work with this stamp set for my Design Team work with Butterfly Reflections, Ink and I was going to share these cards next week on their blog, but they were too cute and I couldn't wait to share them! Looks like this weekend I'll be busy re-creating something else for the Design Team!
Here is the Autumn Mice stamp set from Newton's Nook (available through Butterfly Reflections, Ink):
Card details:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Crumb Cake cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of leafy paper from a scrap piece that I had and die cut a hexagon in the middle of it. I lined the hexagon with acetate film (to create a shaker card). I stamped the sentiment using Crumb Cake ink directly onto the card base. I stamped all of the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and colored the images with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink markers. I even added a few of the die cut leaves into the shaker frame with gold sequins. I placed a thin strip of Soft Suede cardstock directly below the hexagon shaker frame and I adhered the images onto the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension.
Card details:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Soft Suede cardstock. I die cut the frame out of Crushed Curry cardstock. I placed a sheet of Lawn Fawn Gotta Have Gingham paper in yellow behind the frame. I stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner frame in Soft Suede ink. I stamped all of the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and colored the images using Spectrum Noir Alcohol ink markers. I added the colored images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension.
I hope you have enjoyed today's autumn mice card, even if you aren't a fan of the little rodents! I agree, they are only cute on paper.
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, Crystal

Hello! Today I am excited to be sharing two vibrant floral cards featuring the new fall release Sunflower stamp set and coordinating dies from Pretty Pink Posh. There are so many stamp companies on the market right now, and with new ones popping up regularly it's becoming hard to keep up with all of the latest and greatest! While Pretty Pink Posh has been in business since 2013, this is the first stamp set I have purchased from them and I have been very pleased with the quality and affordability.
Because I am not currently creating video content and tutorials on my website, I highly recommend checking out this Easy Alcohol Ink Background Tutorial by Jennifer McGuire. She has created a very simple introduction to working with alcohol inks to create some basic backgrounds. This was the first video I watched after purchasing my alcohol inks and then I just spent time playing around with them! The great thing is there is no right or wrong when it comes to art. You just have fun (and usually make a mess) with it! *My only tip would be that you don't need to spend your money purchasing polysynthetic Yupo Paper at nearly $1.00 per sheet. You can use the reverse side of any high quality photo paper (like this one by Kirkland) and achieve the same results!
I will usually set aside a crafting day and make about 50 alcohol ink background pieces and store them for later use. I find alcohol inks to be very messy, so this technique works well for me. Card details:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Lovely Lipstick cardstock. I mounted my pre-made alcohol ink background piece directly to the card base. Using Versamark ink I stamped the sentiment in the lower right corner and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I stamped all of the sunflowers (in two varying sizes) and leaves in Memento Tuxedo black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I colored the images with Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink markers and added small details to the flowers and leaves with a Uniball white gel pen. I added the flowers to the card using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the flowers for added sparkle.

Hello crafty friends! (I say "friends" because I really do believe in the age old adage, "strangers are friends you've yet to meet.") Today I'm happy to be writing my first post as one of the newest Design Team members for the fall/winter 2019 term for Butterfly Reflections, Ink. I'm very grateful to Vanessa for selecting me to join her amazing group of talented crafters and to help spread the word about her local store. Cheers to strong and independent women business owners and to shopping local!
I chose to use the Newton's Thanksgiving by Newton's Nook to create my "debut card." Mainly because this card is all about cats and carbs, which pretty much sums up my life! We have three rescue cats who dominate our house (we have no children!) and I'm a carb girl all the way, hello breads and pastries, so, all things created by Newton's Nook really make me happy. Card details:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. The first 5 1/4" x 4" layer is a sheet of paper from the Echo Park Fall Paper Pack (similar). I used the Stitched Circle Frames Lawn Cuts and cut a circle from a scrap piece of kraft plaid paper. I cut off the bottom of the circle to make a half circle. I stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner of this half circle in a dark brown ink. I adhered this directly to the center of the card using a Tombow Adhesive Dots Runner - these are THE BEST in my opinion!
I stamped all of the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink (another personal favorite of mine!) on white cardstock and used the coordinatingNewton's Thanksgiving dies to cut the images out. I colored the images with alcohol ink markers and then I always use a White Gelly Roll pen to add highlights to my colored images. Try it - it's a little insider's secret to adding detail and dimension!
I added a piece of burlap tape to the bottom of the half-circle and began to adhere my colored images to the card. I often use foam adhesive when adding images to a card to add depth to my scenes.
Well, I hope you have enjoyed my first card for the Design Team! Be sure to follow along on my Instagram too! Thanks for taking the time to visit today and for joining me on my DT journey with Vanessa and Butterfly Reflections, Ink. I look forward to sharing more of my creations with you and I hope you leave here feeling creative and inspired!

Hello friends and happy Tuesday, or should I say welcome back to another work week!? Oh gnome, is right!? Monday's are typically tough, but Tuesday's after a 3-day weekend are even worse. And then you're all confused for the rest of the week! Today I have another slimline card to share with you featuring all of the fun Oh Gnome characters from Lawn Fawn. I have been working really hard at using some of the many, many stamps that I own that haven't been used and this set is one of them. As we are entering "meteorlogical fall" as my husband says, I chose to use some darker and richer colors to create this gnome/fairy garden scene. Card details:This base of this slimline card (8 1/2" x 3 1/2") was made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I created the background by cutting a piece of Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes cardstock. I die cut the mushroom house from white cardstock, Cajun Craze and Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I assembled the mushroom house and adhered it to the center of the card. I cut some of the grass pieces also uses the Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes cardstock using the Grass Border Honey Cuts by Honey Bee Stamps. I stamped all of the images on white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I colored the images with Spectrum Noir alcohol ink markers and added highlights to each image using a white gelly roll pen. I adhered all the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added height. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to all the images for sparkle. Here is the Oh Gnome stamp set and coordinating Oh Gnome Lawn Cuts from Lawn Fawn (available through Butterfly Reflections, Ink). The Lawn Fawn Mushroom House really completes this card: Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalYou might also enjoy:
Hola, mis amigos! Today we're taking a break from the fall themed cards, just so I can try to appease the readers who maybe aren't yet ready to embrace the fall season. I'm all about keeping everyone happy, which is virtually impossible I know, yet still I try! : ) The next few weeks and months will be a creative blend of fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and, (dare I say?) Christmas, with lots of randomness in between. I like the simplicity of today's card, but I'm bummed that I used the best sentiment on the inside of the card and failed to take a picture of it! So, just pretend you're the recipient of this card and when you open it, you read "Another birthday? No probllama!" And then we laugh and laugh! LOL.
Card details:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using the Gina Marie Scalloped Stitched Nesting Rectangle dies, I cut the first layer from Old Olive cardstock. Next I cut a 5" x 3 3/4" sheet of white cardstock and adhered it directly to the Old Olive scalloped cardstock. I stamped the sentiment at the top of the card in Tuxedo Memento Black ink. I stamped the llama, cactus, sombrero and blanket on a separate sheet of white cardstock in Tuxedo Memento Black ink and colored the images with Spectrum Noir markers. I die cut the images using the coordinating Honey Bee diecuts and adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the cactus, blanket and sombrero for some subtle sparkle.
Adios amigos! Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

Hello crafty people! Perhaps you will recognize the scarecrow on today's card as being very similar to the one seen on yesterday's farmers market card and you would be correct, they are one and the same! Good eye! I had this Lawn Fawn "Happy Harvest" stamp set out on my desk over the weekend and while I was coloring the images I thought I would make a few extra cards using this set. It just might be my current favorite fall stamp set, even though it's one of Lawn Fawn's older sets. It's still a classic. And remember, if you wait long enough, everything comes back around! Eventually. : )
Card details:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. For the first matted 5 1/4" x 4" layer, I used the darkest brown sheet of paper from the Lawn Fawn Knock on Wood paper pack. Using the Gina Marie Designs Stitched Half Circles dies, I cut a sheet of yellow paper from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Scallops paper pack. I stamped all of the images in Tuxedo Memento Black ink on the Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I colored in all of the images using my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Markers. I added highlights to many of the colored images with a Uniball Sigma White Gel Pen. I adhered the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added height. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink on white cardstock and notched both ends before adhering it to the bottom of the card.
I hope you have enjoyed today's card! Thanks for visiting and happy creating!

Hi readers and happy Friday! I hope you have fun things planned for the weekend ahead! I have lots of work to do in my craft room from preparing for next week's gel cards class to ALL the samples I need to create to share here on the blog over the coming weeks. Right now I have a whopping zero cards "in the works!"
So, there's always something crafty that needs to be done! Today I have created a fun fall card by spelling out the word "F-A-L-L" with my (retired) Large Letter Framelit dies by Stampin' UP! I used lots of fall colors in both polka dot and plaid patterns, and added a couple of cute mice - one playing in the leaves and one carrying a pumpkin to convey that fall feeling. Card details:
The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. The first 5 1/4" x 4" matted layer is a yellow polka dot piece of paper from Echo Park. Using the Gina Marie Scalloped Stitched Nesting Rectangle Dies, I cut a piece of Cajun Craze cardstock and lined it with a sheet of white cardstock (also cut with the Gina Marie Designs Stitched Nesting Rectangle dies). Using the (retired) Large Letter Framelit Dies from Stampin' UP! I die cut the letters "F-A-L-L" from another piece of plaid paper from the Celebrate Autumn paper pack by Echo Park. I adhered the letters to the white cardstock using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the mouse images in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock and colored them using Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink markers. I added small details to the images using a Uniball White Gel Pen. I die cut the images and adhered them to the card. Lastly, I added a coat of Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the pumpkins and leaves to give them a glossy coating.
Thanks for visiting and have a great weekend!

Hello friends, I'm back sharing another slimline card today featuring the same Hippos on Holiday that I used in yesterday's card! While today's card features the same stamp set and layout, I opted for a different color scheme in pink and aqua hues. Do you have a favorite?
Card details:
The base of this card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. For the background I used a 8 1/2" x 2 1/2" piece of Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Scalloped paper in blue for the sky. I die cut the sun from Daffodil Delight cardstock. I die cut a sheet of Pool Party cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Wave Border dies and adhered it just below the yellow sky. And now that I've shared not one, but two cards, of these hippos on holiday, I'm feeling quite jealous because they've seen the beach more than I have this summer!

Hello readers and happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend. I am really excited to share with you today's card because it is my first ever "slimline" card! I have been seeing a lot of slimline cards on Instagram and Pinterest lately and the extra-long size makes it ideal to create detailed stamped scenes. This card measures 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" and is designed to fit inside a #10 business mailing envelope. I'm not gonna lie, this card took about 3 hours in total to make! I probably spent about two hours one evening just coloring all of the images and then another hour or so to create the background and overall beach scene. But, I am so happy with how it turned out that I can't wait to make more!
Card details:
The base of this card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. For the background I used a 8 1/2" x 2 1/2" piece of Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Scalloped paper in yellow for the sky. I stamped the sentiment in the upper left corner using Memento Tuxedo black ink. I die cut the sun from Daffodil Delight cardstock. I die cut a sheet of Pool Party cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Wave Border dies and adhered it just below the yellow sky. I die cut a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock using the Heffy Doodle Stitched Slopey Joes border dies and adhered it just below the water line. I did stamp a splatter on the sand in Crumb Cake ink to make it look more like speckled sand. On the very bottom of the card, I placed a thin line of glue and added Lawn Fawn Chunky Glitter for some added sparkle. I stamped all of the images on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and die cut them using the coordinating Hippos on Holiday dies. I colored the images with Spectrum Noir Alcohol ink markers and added a few highlights to the images with a Uniball white gel pen. I hope you enjoyed these beach going hippos! I loved creating this card and felt as though as I had significantly more space to create a scene with by having the longer dimensions. Try it and let me know what you think!
Tomorrow I'll be sharing a very similar card using these same hippos, but incorporating a different color scheme. I hope you will come back to see it! XO, Crystal
