Spooky Village Surprise

10/9/2019

Hi friends! Today I am sharing this spooky slider card over on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink. blog!  One of the things I love most about all of the Lawn Fawn products is that they are designed to coordinate uniformly across the entire product line.  This means they are perfect for mixing and matching! Even if I didn't necessarily do that on today's card, I love having that option.

I recently learned how to assemble the Lawn Fawn Double Slider Surprise Die and I've been making them ever since!  You can see my others samples here and here.  I strongly encourage newbies to watch the Introductory Videos on YouTube by Kelly Marie Alvarez (the owner of Lawn Fawn) and they are a game changer.  Whether it is the Double Slider Surprise Die, the Lawn Fawn Pivot Pop Up Die, the Lawn Fawn Magic Picture Changer Die or any other Lawn Fawn product, she walks you through step-by-step instructions on how to assemble these products.  I promise, it makes all the difference and you will feel confident and be successful in putting this card together.  If I can do it all by myself, so can you!

The base of this A2 sized card is made from black cardstock.  I used a scrap piece of designer paper for the first 5 1/4" x 4" layer of this card.  I wish I could tell you where this "trick-or-treat" paper came from because it's so fun, but I can't recall!  I was able to assemble the surprise slider die and adhere it directly to the center of my card.
I stamped all of the images from the Lawn Fawn Spooky Village stamp set in Memento Tuxedo black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  I colored in all of the images using my Copic alcohol ink markers.  I added small highlights to each of the colored images with a Sakura White Gelly pen.

I die cut the grass from a celery cardstock using the Chunky Grass die from Waffle Flower.   I adhered the grass to the bottom of the center component of the card and the two side pull-outs. I adhered a black chevron paper to both sides of the pull-outs when I was making the double slider surprise base.  I used a piece of orange pattered cardstock for the front portion of the slider.
*As a little tip, when you begin to adhere the pieces to your card, be sure that the pieces on the slider pull-out portion of the card are adhered directly to the cardstock.  You cannot put foam adhesive or pop dots on the slider because then it won't work effectively.   For the front of the card, you can pop them up all you want!  Lastly I stamped the sentiment "Ghostly Greetings" on a scrap piece of white cardstock also in Memento Tuxedo black ink and popped it up with foam adhesive.

A North Pole Trek

10/2/2019

Hello friends!  Today I'm sharing this card over on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog.  Eek!  I'll admit that I've been slow to make the jump from fall and Halloween to Christmas cards, because I'm certainly not ready for snow yet, but I also know that yes, Christmas IS coming. . . eventually!  And, if I don't start making my Christmas cards now, then I'll never get them finished before I need to mail them.

Today's card features the North Pole Littles by Hello Bluebird.  And yes, these "little" images are nearly as tiny as you think!  Each elf and reindeer is probably only about 1" tall.  This makes coloring real fun!
*Note to self - color BEFORE you die cut, not after.  Lesson learned the hard way!  : )
Picture
This slimline card measures 8 1/2" long x 3 1/2" wide.  The great thing about slimline cards is that they will fit into a #10 business sized envelope, so you don't need to worry about additional postage.  The base of my card is made from red cardstock.  I matted the red cardstock with a 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  At the very top of this white piece of cardstock, I stamped the sentiment "Bring on the Merry" in red ink.
Picture
Picture
Using the WPlus9 Landscape border dies, I cut four layers out of Neenah Solar White smooth.  I lined the top of each "snowbank" with a Lawn Fawn Glue Tube and added Lawn Fawn Chunky Glitter to create a division between snowbanks.  I die cut the bare trees from grey cardstock using the Lawn Fawn Stitched Trees border dies.  I tucked some of the trees behind the snowbanks.  I die cut the mountains from the same grey cardstock using the Hello Sweetums Mountains of Fun dies. I cut the snow peaks from a white sparkle/glimmer cardstock.

Picture
I stamped all of the images from the Hello Bluebird North Pole Littles stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and colored each image with Copic markers.  I added highlights to each colored image using a Sakura White Gelly pen. I die cut all of the images using the coordinating Hello Bluebird North Pole Littles dies. Then I added all of the images to the card creating a layered scene from Santa and Mrs. Claus at the bottom of the card to the elves and reindeer in the middle and lastly the North Pole at the top!

I hope you have enjoyed today's card!  Thank you for visiting!

Lawn Fawn Costume Party

Hello readers and TGIF!  I feel like we need to have a party today because it's Friday and we've all made it through the week!  So, I'm bringing out the Lawn Fawn Costume Party stamp set and the Lawn Fawn Shadow Box to celebrate!  These little trick-or-treaters are ready for the weekend too!
Picture

Card details:

The base of this shadow box card is made from Basic Black cardstock.  I followed the Lawn Fawn Introduction to Shadow Box card tutorial on YouTube in order to assemble this shadow box die.  If you own any of the Lawn Fawn interactive dies, I highly recommend watching the "Introduction" tutorials on YouTube, done by Kelly Marie Alvarez (the owner of Lawn Fawn) for the best step-by-step tutorials.  After assembling the shadow box frame and hillside pieces (also in black cardstock), I stamped each of the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  I colored the images with my Spectrum Noir makers and added highlights to each image with a Uniball White Gel Pen.  I added the images to the shadow box card with tear tape for strength.  Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the images for added sparkle.

Frightfully Sweet Surprise

Hello crafty friends!  Today I am sharing this fun card over on the Butterfly Reflections Ink, website.  This card combines my love of Halloween, interactive components, cute critters and candy!  What's not to love!?

Last weekend I was in Vermont on an annual craft retreat and I brought my Lawn Fawn Double Slider Surprise Die with me because, well, I've owned it for over two years now and it's high time I learned HOW to use it!  I think the Lawn Fawn Double Slider Surprise is such a cool card, but I was very intimidated by putting it all together.
Picture
Picture

The base of my card is a smoky slate cardstock.  I lined the card with a piece of  chevron paper.  To create the base of the Double Slider Surprise component I used an avocado green cardstock.  I stamped all of the images from the My Favorite Things Frightfully Sweet stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  I also added the pumpkins from the Lawn Fawn Costume Party stamp set and the ghosts are from the Lawn Fawn Happy Haunting stamp set.   I colored in all of the images with Copic markers and added highlights to many of the images with a white gelly roll pen. I die cut the images using the coordinating My Favorite Things Frightfully Sweet dienamics, the Lawn Fawn Costume Party Lawn Cuts and the Lawn Fawn Happy Haunting Lawn Cuts.

I stamped the "pull here" tab on each side of the sliders in Memento Tuxedo Black ink using the Lawn Fawn Push Here stamp set.
Picture
Picture
*Tip - When you adhere the images to the two outside slider component of the card, you must adhere them directly to the card.  You cannot add pop dots or foam adhesive to the sliding component, because they will no slide in appropriately!
Picture
Picture
For the front of the slider component, I added the colored images with foam adhesive and adhered the images to the card.  On a scrap piece of avocado cardstock, I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and adhered it to the top of the slider component with foam adhesive.   Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella of the images for added sparkle.

I hope you have enjoyed today's interactive card!  After putting a few of these slider cards together over the weekend, I am no longer intimidated by assembling this die and I hope you will try it too because it really has such a "WOW" effect!

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

Sweater Weather Slider Surprise

Hello!  If you are new to my website, welcome!  I'm happy you stopped by and hope you find creativity and inspiration during your time here.

Over the weekend I was in Vermont on a craft retreat with some fellow crafting friends.  My main objective was coloring, LOTS of coloring!  But, I also brought a few interactive dies from Lawn Fawn that I hadn't put together on my own yet.  When it comes to learning something new, I find that I learn best when I set the time aside to really focus.  For me, craft retreats are a great way to do this.  However, for this particular card, I asked if anyone in the group wanted to learn how to assemble the Lawn Fawn Double Slider Surprise die too and, to no surprise,  they all did!
Picture
I strong encourage newbies (like myself) and even those who might need a refresher to watch the Lawn Fawn Double Slider Surprise Die Introductory Video on YouTube by Kelly Marie Alvarez (the owner of Lawn Fawn).  In this video, she walks you through step-by-step how to create a card using the slider die.  You can also pause as you go, so that you can learn at your own pace.  Once you learn to assemble the sliding mechanism, you can decorate the card however you want.  First, I watched Kelly's video and began writing down instructions as I went, so that I could then in turn teach my friends what to do.  I'm not going to lie, there were some significant struggles and frustrations, enough for me to probably never teach the card again (for those of you already asking about stamp camps)!  But, I was able to successfully assemble my card, and in fact, made three cards last weekend using this die which I will share over the next few days.
Picture
The base of my A2 sized card is made from Pumpkie Pie cardstock.  I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of scrap cardstock in a woodgrain pattern to mat directly on top of the base of my card.  I stamped all of these adorable images from the new My Favorite Things Sweather Weather in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  I colored all of the images in Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink markers and die cut the images using the coordinating My Favorite Things Sweater Weather In the Woods dienamics (die cuts).  I added highlights to each images using a Uniball white gel pen. I stamped all sentiments in Memento Tuxedo Black ink as well.

I hope you have enjoyed this fun and interactive card.  I'm so happy that I took the time to learn how to use this die, because once I got over my initial fears, I'm so in love with the result and frankly, found it easy enough to put together (by the third time anyway)!

Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day!

Halloween Party In A Box

Hello friends, I hope you are all having a good week so far!  Today I am on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink blog sharing this spooky-cute Halloween inspired box card featuring the Hello Bluebird Halloween Party stamp set and lots of other goodies available through the Butterfly Reflections, Ink shop.  Halloween is one of my favorite holidays to create cards for, and I just love a card that has an interactive element to it, so the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Box Card Pop Up Die is one of my go-to products.
Picture
Picture
For the base of this card, I used a heavyweight black cardstock.  You want a good thick cardstock for the base of any card to keep it sturdy over time through wear and tear.  On each of the top flaps of the box I used a hot pink cardstock underneath a layer of Sunny Studio Dots and Stripes Jewel Tone paper in the lime green print.  I also stamped the sentiment "Boo" on the lime green polka dot print paper using Memento Tuxedo black ink.  On the base of the box I did just the opposite, a layer of Sunny Studio Argyle Paper in the raspberry color was mounted onto lime green cardstock.

I stamped all the images from the Hello Bluebird Halloween Party stamp set in Memento Tuxedo black ink on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and die cut them using the coordinating Hello Bluebird Halloween Party dies.
Picture
Picture
Along with using the images from the Hello Bluebird Halloween Party stamp set, I also used the ghosts and haunted house from the Lawn Fawn Happy Haunting stamp set to add to this box card.  I colored all of my images first with alcohol ink markers and added highlights to each colored image with a White Gelly Roll pen.
When I was ready to assemble the box card I used Lawn Fawn 1/4" Double Sided Tear Tape to ensure that my box would hold together well.   I began to assemble the images on the card adhering them with Foam Adhesive dots for added dimension.  Lastly I added some Clear Wink of Stella to all of the images for added sparkle.  In my mind, you can NEVER have enough sparkle!

Oh Gnome

Hello friends and happy Tuesday, or should I say welcome back to another work week!?  Oh gnome, is right!?  Monday's are typically tough, but Tuesday's after a 3-day weekend are even worse.  And then you're all confused for the rest of the week!  Today I have another slimline card to share with you featuring all of the fun Oh Gnome characters from Lawn Fawn.  I have been working really hard at using some of the many, many stamps that I own that haven't been used and this set is one of them.  As we are entering "meteorlogical fall" as my husband says, I chose to use some darker and richer colors to create this gnome/fairy garden scene.
Picture

Card details:

This base of this slimline card (8 1/2" x 3 1/2") was made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  I created the background by cutting a piece of Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes cardstock.  I die cut the mushroom house from white cardstock, Cajun Craze and Rich Razzleberry cardstock. I assembled the mushroom house and adhered it to the center of the card.  I cut some of the grass pieces also uses the Lawn Fawn Watercolor Wishes cardstock using the Grass Border Honey Cuts by Honey Bee Stamps.  I stamped all of the images on white cardstock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I colored the images with Spectrum Noir alcohol ink markers and added highlights to each image using a white gelly roll pen.  I adhered all the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added height.  Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to all the images for sparkle.

Happy Harvest

8/27/2019

Hello crafty people!  Perhaps you will recognize the scarecrow on today's card as being very similar to the one seen on yesterday's farmers market card and you would be correct, they are one and the same!  Good eye!  I had this Lawn Fawn "Happy Harvest" stamp set out on my desk over the weekend and while I was coloring the images I thought I would make a few extra cards using this set.  It just might be my current favorite fall stamp set, even though it's one of Lawn Fawn's older sets.  It's still a classic.  And remember, if you wait long enough, everything comes back around!  Eventually.  : )
Picture

Card details:

The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  For the first matted 5 1/4" x 4" layer, I used the darkest brown sheet of paper from the Lawn Fawn Knock on Wood paper pack.  Using the Gina Marie Designs Stitched Half Circles dies, I cut a sheet of yellow paper from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Scallops paper pack. I stamped all of the images in Tuxedo Memento Black ink on the Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I colored in all of the images using my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Ink Markers.  I added highlights to many of the colored images with a Uniball Sigma White Gel Pen.  I adhered the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added height.  Lastly, I stamped the sentiment in Early Espresso ink on white cardstock and notched both ends before adhering it to the bottom of the card.

Cheers to 90 Years

8/15/2019

This weekend we will celebrate my Grandpa's 90th birthday and I couldn't wait to create a very special card for him.  He is the most amazing, hardworking, generous and loyal man I know.  He ran his own business and still found time to raise his family and travel the entire US in an RV.  He can fix anything from an air conditioner to an airplane!  He inspired within me my love of photography and of leaving the world a better place than you found it.  He is still sharp as a tack and physical enough to shovel the snow of his two story home during a Maine winter!  I hope you are all as blessed in your lives to know a man quite like him.
Picture

Card details:

The base of this box card was made using the Lawn Fawn Scalloped Box Card and Basic Black cardstock.  I added black and white chevron paper (miscellaneous scraps) and Gold Glimmer paper to the sides, using the dies from the Lawn Fawn Scalloped box.  Most of the sentiments were stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White cardstock.  I punched out the 9-0 numbers from the Large Letter Framelit Dies (retired by Stampin' UP!) in Gold Glimmer Paper.  I cut the stars from Basic Black cardstock and Gold Glimmer paper using the Spellbinders Stitched Nesting Star dies.   I punched the balloons using the Balloon Bouquet punch in Basic Black and Whisper White cardstocks and Gold Glimmer paper.  I used black baker's twine to tie the balloons together.  I also used clear acetate sheets to allow the line of stars and balloons to "stand up straight."  The clear acetate is nearly invisible on the card.  I assembled the entire card using Thin Tear Tape to ensure all components were adhered securely.

The sentiments used on this card are from the Celebrate Everything stamp set by Fun Stamper's Journey.

Hi friends!  Because Monday's are typically never fun or happy, let's start today off with fun and happy!  Smiling sushi and punny sentiments!  I hope today's card will make you smile, because Lord knows we could all use it returning to work after the weekend!
Picture

Card details:

The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock.  I cut the green background piece from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Scalloped paper pack and adhered a black frame (die unknown) around it.  I stamped all of the images in Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored them using Spectrum Noir alcohol ink markers.  I used a Uniball White Gel pen to add some highlights to the images.  I die cut the images using the coordinating die and then adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension.  I stamped the sentiment at the bottom of the card using Memento black ink.  Lastly I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella over the images for extra sparkle.
