Hello and happy Monday! I hope you are all enjoying a nice long three day holiday weekend! It was quite unseasonably cold (and wet) here in Massachusetts, so there was some unplanned time spent in my craft room which was a happy bonus! Today I'm happy to announced that I have joined the Joy Clair Design Team under the ownership of Martha Lucia Gomez, who I had previously known from the 88 and Clear Design Team that we were on together. I couldn't be more excited for her and that she followed her dream of operating a stamp business and I'm happy to support her by designing with her beautiful stamps and products. Floral images are among my favorites when it comes to stamping and today I'm sharing my first design using the Spring Rose digital stamp set from the most recent "Ray of Sunshine" release. Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. This A2 sized card is made from a base of 80 lb. Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. Using the Lawn Fawn quilted die, I die cut the background also from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I printed one of the roses from the Spring Rose stamp set using an inkjet printer onto Neenah white cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers using Y04, Y06 and Y08 for the flower bloom and YG11 and YG 13 for the stem and leaves. I fussy cut the flower and then adhered it to the white quilted background using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I printed the sentiment "today is your day" from the same Spring Rose digital stamp set. I notched the left edge of the sentiment before adhering the sentiment strip over the rose. I always add a little extra dimension with small white dots from a Uniball White Gel pen. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the flower for added sparkle. I hope you have enjoyed my first card for the Joy Clair Design Team! You can always find me on my website, Facebook or Instagram! Thank you for visiting and happy crafting! Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using the Waffle Flower Hearts Panel die, I die cut the frame from white cardstock. I lined the back of the hearts frame with a pre-made alcohol ink background in a variety of pink inks. I lined the bottom of the hearts panel die with black cardstock, just to add some contrast. I stamped the images from the Konnichiwa stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah white cardstock and I die cut the images using the coordinating Konnichiwa dies. I colored the images with Copic markers and adhered the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment on a thin strip of white cardstock, notched the left edge and adhered the sentiment to the lower right side of the card. Lastly, I added some clear Wink of Stella to the images for added sparkle. Now It's Your Turn! The Only Rule Create a new project using at least one product from Waffle Flower for the challenge. My mom has recently shown an interest in wanting to improve her coloring skills. Her medium of choice is Prismacolor pencils, so unfortunately, I am really unable to help her, as I have only a basic knowledge and understanding of Copic markers. First, I had her subscribe to some of the amazing coloring classes at Kit and Clowder. Alyce's classes are so detailed, and while you WILL spend hours coloring a single image, she will teach you the tips and tricks for beautiful, detailed pieces and I guarantee that you will see results! Second, I had to find some beautiful images that I knew my mother would WANT to color. So, I purchased a few beautiful digital stamps from Powerpoppy. Marcella's images are exactly what my mom would draw (if she could draw), but she gets giddy at the prospect of just being able to color them. For my card today, I have used one of the beautiful images I originally purchased for my mother from Powerpoppy called "Bring Home Some Sunflowers" combined with the multi-layering word "fall" from Honey Bee Stamps. Card details:A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of woodgrain paper and adhered it directly to the card base. Using the Watercolor Stripes Cover die by Altenew, I created the frame from white cardstock. I placed a small scalloped piece of vellum behind the bouquet of flowers. I printed the digital image out onto 80 lb. Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. Using the "fall" dies from Honey Bee Stamps, I die cut the bottom layer from gold glitter paper, the middle layer from white cardstock and the top (thinnest) layer from cherry cardstock. I adhered all there layers together using a Lawn Fawn glue tube and adhered the entire sentiment to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I added a few bronze rhinestones randomly to the card. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the bouquet for added sparkle. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalList of products:Hello friends! It's another exciting new release of products at Whimsy Stamps and I have a fun card to show you using the new Slimline Connected Bubbles die. Did you know that Whimsy Stamps is actually the innovator of the slimline dies and has more than 10 dies to choose from with more on the way? That's right, slimline dies all started with Whimsy and many other companies have followed this hugely popular card trend! Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. The base of this slimline card is made from Coastal Cabana cardstock. I cut a 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock for the mat. I randomly stamped ink splatters in both Coastal Cabana ink and Daffodil Delight ink on this white background. Using the new Slimline Connected Bubbles die, I cut the bubbles from Coastal Cabana cardstock and adhere this to the center of the card. Using the Best Fishes stamp set, I stamped the fish in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I colored the fish using Copic markers and then used my Brother Scan and Cut 2 electronic cutting machine to cut the fish out (in lieu of fussy cutting). I adhered the fish randomly to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment "Best Fishes" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a strip of white cardstock, notched the left end and adhered it to the lower right hand side of the card with 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the fish for added sparkle. I hope you have enjoyed this fun card! To see more of the latest release products from Whimsy Stamps, please click here. XO, CrystalList of supplies:Kokeshi is a traditional Japanese wooden doll made out of wood like cherry, Japanese male, dogwood and Japanese cypress trees. The origin of Kokeshi dates back to between the end of the Edo Period (1603-1868) and early 19th century in Northern Japan. The tradition gradually spread throughout the region and became a popular Japanese folk art. At the time in winter, artisans skilled in woodwork who usually used to make household utensils such as wooden bowls, trays, and chopsticks began making this type of doll to sell as souvenirs. Today I have created two bookmarks using the beautiful kokeshi dolls that AlexSyberia Design created for use in digital artwork. Details:I purchased the beautiful Kokeshi Doll Bundle from AlexSyberia Design on Etsy. I printed the images onto Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock and colored the images using Copic Markers. I fussy cut each doll and adhered it to a 7 3/4 x 2" piece of white cardstock using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I had lightly stamped the white background mat with a grey floral image. I mounted the white cardstock to a red cardstock and finally a black cardstock base to create a bookmark. I found an old Kanji print stamp set and placed the sentiment in red or blue ink at the top of each bookmark. I punch a hole through the top of each bookmark and fed a variety of ribbons and threads through to create colorful tassels. Lastly, I put a coat of clear Wink of Stella over each doll for added sparkle. Here is the Kokeshi Doll Bundle digital stamp from AlexSyberia Design that I used to create these bookmarks: For more information on digital stamping, please read this blog post answering many popular questions. Thanks for visiting and happy creating! XO, CrystalNow that summer is officially here, despite it arriving after a spring we'd all like to forget, let's celebrate with the coolest treat of the season! But, if you look closely, these aren't your average ice cream cones, but ones creatively filled with beautiful flowers instead. Card details:*A full supply list is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from white cardstock. Using a piece of purple and white lined paper, I cut the striped paper to 5" x 3 3/4". I matted the striped paper with a piece of grape cardstock. I printed out the ice cream digital stamp on white cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. I fussy cut the entire image and adhered it to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment "you are so" in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock and cut it into little strips to adhere to the card. I die cut the "sweet" sentiment from grape and white cardstock, adhering the two layers together before mounting them to the card. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the ice cream for added sparkle. Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from white cardstock. XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello readers and welcome back from the weekend! I hope you found a little time to do something crafty. Last week was my "off" shift from work and I would love to tell you that I spent a lot of time crafting, but in reality I have been doing nothing but home improvement projects! We have done everything from cleaning out closets and the attic to painting, landscaping and installing new kitchen countertops! This has been a very costly quarantine! Today I am sharing another card that I made for the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #125. This week we have a color challenge to inspire you. Our challenges run for two weeks, thereby giving you more time to create, so I have designed a second card to share with you this week that was still inspired by the same image seen below: Here is the card I created using the colors from this week's challenge: Card details:A full list of supplies (with clickable links) is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of scrap yellow polka dot paper for the first layer. Using the Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Stitched Nesting Rectangle dies, I die cut a 4" rectangle from white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in the lower right corner in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the three lemons from the Newton's Nook Lemon Twist stamp set on white scrap paper and colored them in using Copic markers. I used the coordinating Lemon Twist dies to cut the lemons out. I adhered three lemons down the left side of the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the lemons and leaves for added sparkle. Will these colors inspire YOU to create? Are you ready to get your paws inky with us and play along for a chance to win?! We will randomly select one linked entry to receive a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online shop! We will also highlight our favorites from each challenge the following Monday, so that all entries have a chance to be featured on the Newton's Nook Designs blog. Please make sure you review the challenge rules page before you link up your project! The deadline to enter is Friday, June 19th, at midnight CST. XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello and TGIF, friends! In keeping up with yesterday's coffee themed card, today's slimline card is all about bubble tea! Also called boba tea or pearl milk tea, bubble tea is a Taiwanese tea-based drink invented in the 1980s, which is shaken with ice to create the "bubbles", a foamy layer on top of the drink and chewy tapioca balls are added that typically fall to the bottom. I've got to admit, while I've only had one, I think bubble tea looks better than it tastes! It's a weird texture thing for me. Have YOU ever tried bubble tea? Card details:A full list of supplies (with clickable links) is located at the end of this post. This slimline card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". A slimline card is designed to fit inside a regular #10 business sized mailing envelope with no extra postage needed. The base of this slimline card is made from Coastal Cabana cardstock. Using the Whimsy Stamps Slimline Scallop die, I cut the frame from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I lined the back of each oval window with pieces of rainbow paper from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow paper pack. I printed out the "Bubbly Feels" digital stamp set onto Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and colored in the images with Copic markers. I added a few highlights using a white gel pen. I fussy cut the tea cups out and adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I printed the sentiment strip also onto Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I notched the left end before adhering it to the card. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the bubble teas for added sparkle. Here is the "Bubbly Feels" stamp set by Graciellie Design that I used to create today's card: Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderfully creative weekend! XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello friends and happy Tuesday! Last week I shared a few different ways to use this butterfly digital stamp from Graciellie Design, but I must say, that today's rainbow colored butterfly is my favorite! Card details:The base of this A2 sized card was made from Neenah Solar white smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4 x 4" piece of black cardstock and heat embossed a woodgrain pattern onto using black embossing powder for a tone-on-tone look. I printed out the butterfly onto Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. After I colored the image, I fussy cut the butterfly using a small pair of craft scissors. I adhered the butterfly at an angle on the card using 3M foam adhesive. I die cut the word "beautiful" from both black and white cardstocks, layering the two together, before adhering them onto the right side of the butterfly. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the entire butterfly for added sparkle. Here is the "Change is Coming" digital stamp set that I used to create today's card: Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative weekend!
