Hello crafty readers and happy 1st of December! The Design Team at Joy Clair Designs is excited to share the mood board for this month. Mood boards (also commonly called "inspiration" boards) are a combination of colors, images, textures and patterns that can offer guidance or direction. If you feel like you don't know where to begin a project, try looking at a mood board and let the creative juices flow. You might just be surprised by the end result!
Let's take a look at the December 2021 Joy Clair Designs mood board:
This month's mood board was inspired by the magic, warmth and wonder of the holiday season with pops of colors in turquoise, purple, magenta and white. It's cheerful, whimsical and magical! Maybe this will inspire you to create for Christmas, Hannukah, winter or simply let these colors inspire you to create for any occasion.
Here is a card that I created inspired by this month's mood board: Card details:
*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post.
The base of this A2 size card was made using 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. The first base was created using a Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Rectangle die and cut from white cardstock. In the bottom lower right corner of the card, I stamped the sentiment "warmest wishes" in blue ink. l created a background from Faded Denim and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide inks. Next, I printed the images from the Christmas Cocoa digital stamp set and colored in the two mugs using Copic markers. I added the mugs to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I also added the white foam cream and marshmallows to the card using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to all the images for added sparkle.

Hello crafty readers! Today I am on the Birch Press Design blog sharing a couple cards made using the beautiful Pumpkin Lacework stamp set and coordinating dies. This is probably my favorite stamp set from Birch Press Design, so just like the old expression "if the shoe fits, buy it in every color", I decided to stamp it in every color! Now the question is, do YOU prefer the more traditional orange/brown pumpkin, or do you like the blues and purples? So, let's take a look at the most conventional card first. It's beautiful and elegant heat embossed with gold embossing powder and then colored using Copic markers in brown, oranges and yellows. It is very traditional, warm and earthy. But, now let's step outside-of-the-box and try the same exact card simply using a different color pattern. Does it still emit fall vibes? I think so! Each of these A2 cards were made using all the same dimensions and products, I simply alternated some colors. The base of each card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I matted a 5" x 3 3/" piece of white woodgrain cardstock with a coordinating piece of blue, purple or brown cardstock from the Ocean Blue, Vibrant Violet and Earth Neutral 6 x 6" paper packs. I cut 5" x 1/4" strips of ombre colors from these same paper packs and diagonally lined them up along the card alternating with 1/4" strips of gold glitter cardstock from the Twinkling Jewel Glitter 6 x 6" pad. I stamped the pumpkins and stems using the Pumpkin Lacework stamp set. I stamped the image in Versamark ink on white cardstock and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I used the coordinating dies to cut the pumpkin and stem out. I colored the pumpkins with Copic markers and then adhered the colored pumpkins to the card with 3M foam adhesive. I stamped the tag in coordinating colored cardstock in Versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I adhered the tag to each pumpkin and added linen thread for extra dimension. Lastly, I cut the sentiment "thanks" and "hello" from white cardstock using the Thanks Sugar Script and Hello Sugar Script. I hope you have enjoyed seeing these cards in a variety of colors and that you'll feel encouraged to try adding more color to your fall cards. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalHello crafty readers and happy Wednesday! I'm so sorry but I couldn't resist a little pun in the title of today's post! : ) Today I'm sharing another card from the "Wonderfully" digital stamp release at Joy Clair Designs. This beautiful boot and floral stamp is from the Extraordinary digital stamp set. Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using the Large Diamond Cover Panel from Reverse Confetti, I created the frame from Neenah white cardstock. Behind the diamond frame I placed a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of royal blue foil cardstock (retired). I enlarged the floral boot image to 130% and printed it onto Neenah white cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers and then fussy cut the image out by hand. I adhered the image to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I printed the sentiment on a thin strip of Neenah white cardstock and adhered it to the card also using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the image for added sparkle. Now don't be surprised if you end up seeing this floral boot again in the very near future in another color pattern! Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalYou might also enjoy:Hello crafty readers and happy 1st of October! The Design Team at Joy Clair Designs is excited to share the October 2021 mood board designed to help inspire YOU to create. Mood boards (also commonly called “inspiration” boards) are a combination of colors, images, textures and patterns that can offer guidance or direction. If you feel like you don’t know where to begin a project, try looking at a mood board and let the creative juices flow. You might just be surprised by the end result! This month’s mood board is inspired by the colors and images of Halloween. But you are welcome to create for any season, holiday or occasion, as long as your project incorporates these colors. We’d love to see you use Joy Clair Designs stamp set too, if you have them. If you don’t have any, you can start shopping NOW! Here is a card that I created using this month's mood board colors combined with the boots stamp from the Extraordinary digital stamp set: Card details:The base of this A2 sized card was made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. First, I cut the first matted layer from the same white cardstock using a scalloped rectangle frame. Then, I cut a 4 1/4″ x 3 1/4″ piece of black cardstock. Additionally, I adhered a 4 1/8″ x 3 1/8″ piece of white cardstock directly on the top of the black cardstock. I printed out the boots from the Extraordinary digital stamp set on white cardstock. I increased the size to 75%. Then, I colored the boots using Copic markers in G03, Y13, Y17, YR09, YR68, YR02, C4, C7 and YG41. Additionally, I fussy cut around the boots and adhered the boots to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I wanted this card to look more fall themed, so I stamped some of the leaves from the Love Endures stamp set in Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored them using the same Copic markers. Also, I fussy cut the leaves and adhered them to the card. Then, I printed the sentiment from the Extraordinary digital stamp set on white cardstock and adhered it to the card. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the entire image for added sparkle. We would love to see YOU create using this mood board as inspiration too! We spent a long weekend in Maine visiting my parents and it was our first real glimpse of fall with some cooler evening/morning temperatures and apple cider waffles with my family's own maple syrup! I just can't get enough of all things fall. Today I'm sharing two cards on the Joy Clair Designs blog featuring the Hey Pumpkin stamp set. Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made with 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using the Diagonal Stripes Window die from Pinkfresh Studio, I diecut the frame from white cardstock. Behind the frame I placed a piece of Light Brown Woodgrain paper from Lawn Fawn. I stamped the pumpkins from the Hey Pumpkin stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored them with Copic markers. I fussy cut the image out and adhered it to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment "thanks" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and fussy cut the sentiment out. I placed the cut sentiment over a piece of orange cardstock and created my own shadow die by fussy cutting the second layer. I adhered the sentiment to the card using 3M foam adhesive. Here is the second card I created also using the Hey Pumpkin stamp set: Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of pumpkin orange cardstock as the first mat for this card. I cut a 5" x 3 3/4" piece of Light Brown Lawn Fawn Woodgrain cardstock to adhere to the orange mat. I die cut the picture frame from white cardstock. I stamped the pumpkins from the Hey Pumpkin stamp set in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock. I colored the pumpkins with Copic markers and fussy cut the image out. I adhered the pumpkins to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Using a leaf punch, I punched a couple gold glitter leaves out and tucked them behind the pumpkins to add some glitter and dimension. I stamped the sentiment "hey pumpkin" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I cut the sentiment out and adhered it to the bottom of the picture frame using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the pumpkins for more sparkle. Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a great week! XO, CrystalWhat could be more wonderful than receiving a beautiful handmade card with an uplifting sentiment like "to one of the loveliest people I know? In fact, that reminds me to send cards more often. . . just because. I am great at sending sympathy and get well cards or cards for birthdays and calendar holidays, but I don't send nearly enough cards just because. So, let today's card serve as a reminder that we could all use a little more happy mail in our lives, and in our mailboxes! Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using a lattice die, I also die cut the lattice background from white cardstock and adhered it directly to the card base. Using a camera frame die, I cut the frame from raspberry cardstock. I printed the camera image from the Pamper Yourself digital stamp set. I colored the image with Copic markers and fussy cut it out. I adhered the camera to the card, at an angle, using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I printed out the sentiment "to one of the loveliest people I know" from the You Make Me Proud digital stamp set. I die cut the sentiment using an oval die and I adhered the sentiment above the camera. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the camera and flowers for added sparkle. I hope you have enjoyed today's card. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! For more inspiration, you can visit me on Instagram, Facebook and on my YouTube channel. Today I am sharing a card I designed for Joy Clair Designs using the beautiful Spring Rose digital stamp set. If you are interested in learning more about working with digital stamps, please read this post. Over the past two years, I have really enjoyed working with digital stamps mostly for the simple ability to resize them, as I did for this card. Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using the Waffle Flower Angled Strips background die, I die cut the background from white cardstock. I printed the sentiment from the Joy Clair Designs Spring Stamp set onto 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and die cut it using a 2 1/2" Scalloped Circle Die from Lawn Fawn. I printed the flowers in two different sizes and colored them using Copic markers. I adhered the sentiment circle to the upper right corner of the card using 3M foam adhesive. I added the two roses to the card also using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the flowers for added sparkle. I love how this card turned out, simple and elegant. I might even make the same card in a few other colors! This card would work well for a variety of occasions from birthday and get well soon, to sympathy and thinking of you. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello, today I am on the Joy Clair Designs blog sharing a monochromatic peach card featuring the beautiful Spring Rose digital stamp set and an alcohol ink background. I LOVE working with alcohol inks because they offer such depth and texture to the backgrounds, despite the occasional mess and unpredictable end result you get each time! Card details:For the base of this A2 sized card I use 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. On a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Yupo paper, I created the alcohol ink background by "ink blowing" Ranger Adirondack alcohol inks in Peach Bellini and Gold Mixative. When I say "ink blowing," I essentially dropped small amounts of the ink onto Yupo paper, added a bit of 80% isopropyl rubbing alcohol and used the Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink Air Blower to move the ink around. Once the ink dried, I splattered the background with white acrylic paint. Once the acrylic paint dried I then adhered the background to the card. I printed the Spring Rose digital stamp set onto 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. This is my go-to white cardstock for everything from die cutting and card bases to Copic coloring and distress oxides. I printed one of the roses at 60% and the other at 80%. I colored each rose with Copic markers and adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I printed the sentiment on the same white cardstock and used an oval die to die cut the sentiment out. I adhered the sentiment to the left of the card also using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, using a Uniball white gel pen, I made small white dots, in groups of threes, on the flowers to add a little more texture. I hope you have enjoyed this card. Thank you for visiting and happy creating! XO, CrystalHello readers! Today I am over on the Joy Clair Designs blog sharing some fun rainbow colored cards using both the Spring Rose and Funny Times digital stamp sets from Joy Clair Designs. I love using rainbow colors on my cards, because I think it just makes them extra cheerful and uplifting no matter what images are used. Card details:For this first A2 sized card, I used a piece of 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock for my base. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of black cardstock for the first mat which I adhered directly to the card base. I placed a 2" x 5 1/4" piece of black and gold foiled patterned paper down the left side of the card. I enlarged the hot air balloon to about 60% from the Funny Times digital stamp set and printed it onto Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers and fussy cut the image out. I adhered the hot air balloon to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I also printed the sentiment onto white cardstock and die cut it using a 3" stitched oval circle. I adhered the sentiment to the balloon using Tombow adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the balloon for added sparkle. For this second A2 sized card, I used the same card base of 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I heat embossed a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of black cardstock with a grunge background stamp and adhered it directly to the card base. I printed one of the roses from the beautiful Spring Rose digital stamp set and enlarged it 50%. I colored the image with Copic markers in rainbow colors and adhered it to the center of the card using 3M foam adhesive. I printed out the sentiment on white cardstock and used a decorative punch to punch out the shape. I placed a little white twine on the center of the rose and the sentiment on top of the twine. I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the rose for added sparkle. I hope you have enjoyed these cards. You can see more of my designs on Instagram, Facebook and on my YouTube channel. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalHello and happy Monday! I hope you are all enjoying a nice long three day holiday weekend! It was quite unseasonably cold (and wet) here in Massachusetts, so there was some unplanned time spent in my craft room which was a happy bonus! Today I'm happy to announced that I have joined the Joy Clair Design Team under the ownership of Martha Lucia Gomez, who I had previously known from the 88 and Clear Design Team that we were on together. I couldn't be more excited for her and that she followed her dream of operating a stamp business and I'm happy to support her by designing with her beautiful stamps and products. Floral images are among my favorites when it comes to stamping and today I'm sharing my first design using the Spring Rose digital stamp set from the most recent "Ray of Sunshine" release. Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. This A2 sized card is made from a base of 80 lb. Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. Using the Lawn Fawn quilted die, I die cut the background also from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I printed one of the roses from the Spring Rose stamp set using an inkjet printer onto Neenah white cardstock. I colored the image with Copic markers using Y04, Y06 and Y08 for the flower bloom and YG11 and YG 13 for the stem and leaves. I fussy cut the flower and then adhered it to the white quilted background using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I printed the sentiment "today is your day" from the same Spring Rose digital stamp set. I notched the left edge of the sentiment before adhering the sentiment strip over the rose. I always add a little extra dimension with small white dots from a Uniball White Gel pen. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the flower for added sparkle.
