Today I am on the Birch Press Design blog sharing two holiday cards made using the Roundabout Layer Set. When I first received this beautiful 3-piece layering die set, my first thought was "I see wreaths!" And then that was ALL I could see! So wreaths it is. . . I kept a more traditional color combination of green and red for the wreaths and berries and added elegance with a gold foil background on one and a top layer of gold glitter cardstock on the other wreath. Card details:For this first A2 sized card, I used a garden green cardstock for the base. I die cut a scalloped rectangle from 80 lb. Neenah Solar Smooth white cardstock for the first mat. Using the Roundabout Layer Die set, I die cut Layer C (the bottom layer) from a cactus green cardstock. Layer B was cut from a garden green cardstock and Layer A (the top layer) was cut from gold glitter cardstock. I adhered all three layers together using LineCo ph bookbinding glue. This is my go-to liquid adhesive. Using an off brand circle punch, I punched out red berries from red glitter cardstock and grouped them in clusters of three. I also added red rhinestones to the top of the berry clusters for added sparkle. Lastly, I tied a small white bow from cotton ribbon and adhered it to the bottom of the wreath using glue dots. Here is the second card I created using the same Roundabout Dies: Card details:I used 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock as the base. I cut a 5" x 3/4" piece of gold foil paper that I ran through my Big Shot machine using a distressed embossing folder to give it some texture. Using the same Roundabout Die set, I die cut Layer C (the bottom layer) from green glitter cardstock. Layer B from garden green cardstock and Layer A from cactus green cardstock. To mimic the look of the first card, I also punched out more red berries and added rhinestones and a white ribbon to this wreath as well. Personally I LOVE how these Roundabout wreaths turned out. I think they have made simple, classic and elegant Christmas cards. I hope you will enjoy them too! Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! *You can find a list of all products used by visiting my post on the Birch Press Design blog. XO, CrystalHello readers and welcome back from the weekend! I hope you found a little time to do something crafty. For the past five days, I have been on a stay-at-home craft retreat! Typically during the first week of every November, seven friends and myself rent a large home in Connecticut for an annual craft retreat. But, due to Covid, we decided it best to forego this year's get together. Instead my mom and one of my best friend's came to stay at my house with me and we spent the days going for walks, watching Hallmark Christmas movies and doing lots of crafting. Even though it was in my own home, it was still wonderful and relaxing. Well. it's Monday and that means we have a new challenge to share with you at Inky Paws. Challenge #136 is an exciting theme because it's use your FAVORITE Newton's Nook Designs stamp! Now, we all know it's virtually impossible to pick favorite, so let me tell you why the stamp set I chose is my favorite - I picked the "Santa Paws" stamp set because it was the very first NND stamp set I purchased, so it holds a special place in my heart. And hello, it's CATS! Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. This slimline card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". Slimline cards are designed to fit into a regular #10 business sized envelope and require no additional postage. The base of this slimline card was made from Real Red cardstock. I cut the first 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" mat from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using the Slimline Frames and Windows die set, I cut the frame from Real Red cardstock. I lined the left and right side of the frame with red and white striped paper. I stamped the sentiment in the center frame using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped the three images from the Santa Paws stamp set in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock and colored the images using Copic markers. I die cut the images using the coordinating Santa Paws dies and adhered the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the images for added sparkle. Are you ready to get your paws inky with us and play along to win a prize? We will chose a RANDOM entry to win a $20 store credit to our Newton's Nook Designs online shop! We will also highlight our favorites from each challenge the following Monday so all entries have a chance to be featured on this blog! You have TWO WEEKS to play along - Deadline to enter is Friday, November 20th, 2020 at Midnight CST. The winners will be announced on the Newton's Nook blog the following Monday. Are you ready to play along and get your paws inky? Make sure you check the challenge rules page before you link up your project. XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello and happy Thursday readers! Thank you for coming by to visit. Today is Day 3 of showcasing new release products from Whimsy Stamps and I am sharing another card using the Elegant Ornaments stamp set and coordinating die. If you missed Tuesday's whimsical slimline card, please click here. You can also see yesterday's elegant black and gold card here. All three cards can also be viewed at the end of this post. I really enjoy sharing different ways to use the same stamp set. I have found that by creating a variety of cards, the stamp set appeals to a larger audience. I also feel like I'm getting "more bang for my buck" by using the stamp set multiple times rather than using it for just one card and then moving on to something else! Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. This slimline card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". Slimline cards are designed to fit inside a regular #10 business envelope and require no additional postage. The base of this slimline card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Melon Mambo cardstock for the first layer. Using the Slimline Scenic Window, I die cut the frame from Pool Party cardstock. I stamped pne of the ornaments in Pool Party Ink and one in Melon Mambo ink. Then I heat embossed two of the ornaments with white embossing powder on Melon Mambo cardstock. I heat embossed one ornament with white embossign powder on Pool Party cardstock. I used the coordinating die to die cut all the ornaments out. I adhered the ornaments to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment "Merry Christmas" in Melon Mambo ink on two separate thin strips of white cardstock and adhered them to each side of the card. Here are the other two cards I made using the Elegant Ornaments stamp set and coordinating die: The November release from Whimsy Stamps is filled with lots of wintery goodness! Be sure to visit the website to see other new products available. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalList of supplies:As promised in yesterday's post about the latest release of new products from Whimsy Stamps, today I am sharing another way to use the new Elegant Ornaments stamp set and coordinating die. Yesterday's slimline card was very whimsical and colorful, while today's A2 sized shaker card is more of a classic elegance in black and gold. Do you prefer one over the other? Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 size card is made from Basic Black cardstock. The first layer is a piece of 5 1/4" x 4" 80 lb. I stamped the sentiment "Merry Christmas" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the lower 1/3 of the card. I lined the back of the gold frame with a piece of acetate and then lined the acetate end-to-end with thin strips of foam adhesive. I placed approximately one tablespoon each of black and gold sequins on the card and then flipped the shaker frame on top of the sequins. I heat embossed the ornaments with gold embossing powder on black cardstock and then used the coordinating die to die cut the ornaments out. I adhered the ornaments to the top of the shaker frame using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Hello readers and welcome back from the weekend! I hope you found a little time to do something crafty. Who noticed that I made a few small changes on my website last week?! It was time for a mini refresh, so I added a new home page sliding display and an updated photograph of myself. I'm happy with how the changes added a little more color and artisic flair to the website!
Well, it's Monday and every Monday means that we have a new challenge to share with you at the Inky Paws Challenge by Newton's Nook. Challenge #135 is a sketch challenge. Using the sketch shown in the image below, we want YOU to share your creations with us!
Here is the card I created inspired by the sketch:
Card details:
*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post.
This A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I used a piece of miscellaeous woodgrain cardstock for the first 5 1/4" x 4" mat. I used a green piece of gingham paper and a strip of gold paper to create the diagonal lines of the sketch. In the lower right corner of the card I heat embossed the sentiment in white embossing powder. I stamped the poinsettia images from the Poinsettia Blooms stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the white cardstock and colored the images with Copic markers. I die cut a white scalloped circle to act as a base or grounding point for the poinsettia flowers. I die cut the flowers using the coordinating Poinsettia Blooms die set. I adhered the flowers to the card using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the flowers for added sparkle.
Are you ready to get your paws inky with us and play along for a chance to win?! We will randomly select one linked entry to receive a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online shop!
We will also highlight our favorites from each challenge the following Monday, so that all entries have a chance to be featured on the Newton's Nook Designs blog. Please make sure you review the challenge rules page before you link up your project! Deadline to enter is Friday, November 6th, 2020, at midnight CST. XO, CrystalList of supplies:
