It's another fun "Bizzy Bees" card! The latest hugely popular stamp set from Whimsy Stamps is back again today for another slimline card. Not only is the "Bizzy Bees" stamp set super cute, it's coordinating "Bizzy Bees" paper pack is perfectly matched! Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. This slimline card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". Slimline cards are designed to fit into a regular #10 business sized envelope and require no additional postage. The base of this slimline card is made from Basic Black cardstock. Using the Slimline Card Builder Die, I cut the stitched mat from white cardstock. I splattered some yellow ink all over this white background before adhering it to the card base. Using the Hexagon dies, I die cut three pieces of pink paper from the "Bizzy Bees" paper pack and adhered them to the card lined up through the center of the card. I stamped the bees in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers. I then used my Brother Scan and Cut 2 Electronic Cutting machine to cut the images (in lieu of fussy cutting). After cutting the images I adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I stamped the sentiments in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on strips of white cardstock and adhered them beside the bees. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the bees for added sparkle. If you missed the first card I created using this same "Bizzy Bees" stamp set, please click here to see that rainbow creation! Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! Hello friends! It's another exciting new release of products at Whimsy Stamps and I have a fun card to show you using the new Slimline Connected Bubbles die. Did you know that Whimsy Stamps is actually the innovator of the slimline dies and has more than 10 dies to choose from with more on the way? That's right, slimline dies all started with Whimsy and many other companies have followed this hugely popular card trend! Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. The base of this slimline card is made from Coastal Cabana cardstock. I cut a 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock for the mat. I randomly stamped ink splatters in both Coastal Cabana ink and Daffodil Delight ink on this white background. Using the new Slimline Connected Bubbles die, I cut the bubbles from Coastal Cabana cardstock and adhere this to the center of the card. Using the Best Fishes stamp set, I stamped the fish in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I colored the fish using Copic markers and then used my Brother Scan and Cut 2 electronic cutting machine to cut the fish out (in lieu of fussy cutting). I adhered the fish randomly to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment "Best Fishes" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on a strip of white cardstock, notched the left end and adhered it to the lower right hand side of the card with 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the fish for added sparkle. I hope you have enjoyed this fun card! To see more of the latest release products from Whimsy Stamps, please click here. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalList of supplies:I don't talk about it much, but every now and then I'll struggle with a stamp set or a card, and when I struggle, I reeeeeally struggle! Sometimes I'll take a break and come back around to it. . . or not. On the really bad days, I'll proclaim myself the world's worst cardmaker (EVER!) and throw a self-loathing, peanut M&M eating, pity party for one. This new Birch Frame stamp set by Whimsy Stamps was one of those stamp sets that challenged me. It's a beautiful stamp set, but not particularly "my style." I'm not even showing you the first two cards I created using this set that I promptly declared "disastrously hideous" (which is like a bajillion times more hideous than hideous) and threw in the rubbish. BTW, "rubbish" sounds way better than "trash" or "garbage." So, no worries, these two cards actually went to a happy place! ; ) This time, instead of that M & M eating, self -loathing pity party for one, and before I threw in the proverbial towel, I decided to try this stamp set one more time with a more optimistic outlook and was able to create a card that is actually quite pretty. I'm not saying it didn't take me 4-plus hours, but it's also not "disastrously hideous," so that's a craft win in my book! Card details:*A full supply list is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I stamped the Birch Frame on a piece of white carsdtock and colored it using Copic markers. I then fussy cut the entire frame out. I stamped the sentiment from the Beaucoup Bouquet stamp set in Merry Merlot ink. On a 4 1/4" x 3" piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, I stamped the Leaves background stamp in Versamark ink. I heat embossed the leaves in white embossing powder. I matted this leaf embossed piece onto a piece of Merry Merlot cardstock before adhering both layers to the bottom of the card. I then adhered the Birch Frame to the center of the card popped up on 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I know I'm not alone in my crafting challenges. Tell me all about yours in the comments below! XO, CrystalList of supplies:Today I'm taking a break from the slimline cards and sharing two sweet A2 size cards featuring the beautiful "Soul Sisters" stamp set from the July new product release at Whimsy Stamps. Initially I didn't think I would like this stamp set as much as I do, but when I combined it with the Arched Window Die (also from Whimsy Stamps) and a stenciled Distress Oxide ink background, these really came out quite eye catching! Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. Please note, both of these cards were made the same way, simply using different color combinations. The base of these two A2 sized cards were created from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I placed a 4 1/4" x 1 1/2 piece of Early Espresso cardstock as the floor or window seat of the card. I cut the Arched Window die from white cardstock. I cut a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock the same size as the Arched Window to stencil on. First, I ink blended Broken China Distress Oxide ink onto the cardstock. Then I laid the Star Galaxy Stencil on top and added more Distress Oxide ink in Chipped Sapphire. I put the ink blended background behind the white Arched Frame and adhered both to the center of the card. I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock and colored them using Copic markers. I used my Brother Scan and Cut 2 Electronic Cutting machine to cut the images out (in lieu of fussy cutting them). I adhered the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I stamped the sentiments in Memento Tuxedo black ink on strips of white cardstock and adhered them to the tops and bottoms of each card. I hope you have enjoyed these dreamy cards. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello readers and welcome back from the weekend! I hope you found a little time to do something crafty. Today I am sharing another card that I made for the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #128. This week we have a color challenge to inspire you. Our challenges run for two weeks, thereby giving you more time to create, so I have designed a second card to share with you this week that was still inspired by the same image seen below: Here is the card I card inspired by the challenge colors: Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White cardstock. Using a piece of Blushing Bride cardstock, I ran it through a star embossing folder. I cut a piece of stripes paper from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow Paper Pack to 3" x 4 1/4" and adhered it to the center of the card. I stamped the image of the girl holding the balloons (Newton's Nook - Holding Happiness) in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it using Copic markers. I die cut the image using the coordinating Holding Happiness dies. I die cut a white circle frame and matted that on a red scalloped circle. I stamped the sentiment "Big Wishes" in Memento Tuxedo Black ink directly on the white circle. I adhered the balloon image onto the circle using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment "because you're worth it" in Memento Tuxedo black ink. I notched the right end and adhered it below the other sentiment. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the balloons for added sparkle. Are you ready to get your paws inky with us and play along to win a prize? List of supplies:We've all heard of unicorns, but today it's all about the fantasy mythical creatures invented by Whimsy Stamps called "Critter Corns!" This fun new stamp set introduces the creative world to it's first pandacorn, bunnycorn and zebracorn! I have created a slimline card with a rainbow cloud background to really give these whimsical critters a dreamy home. Card details:*A full supply list is located at the end of this post. The base of this slimline card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I die cut the frame from white cardstock using the Slimline Waves die. I set this frame aside for now to create the rainbow background. On an 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock, I ink blended the background in rainbow colors using Distress Oxide inks in the colors: Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Squeezed Lemonade, Twisted Citron, Broken China and Wilted Violet. I still use the Tim Holtz ink blending tool to blend my inks. Then I spritzed the entire paper with water to create the "splotches." I also took a Uniball white gel pen and created a couple stars or crosses to create reflection in the sky. I stamped the crittercorn images in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I colored the images with Copic markers and then used my Brother Scan and Cut 2 electronic cutting machine to cut them out (in lieu of fussy cutting). I adhered the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I added a couple white die cut clouds from the "Up in the Clouds" die set to the scene and stamped a sentiment in Memento Tuxedo black ink on each cloud. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the critters for added sparkle. To see more of the latest releases from Whimsy Stamps, please click here. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello and happy Thursday readers! Today I am sharing this card on the Birch Press Design blog. I hope you have been enjoying some of the beautiful new release products that the Design Team has been sharing. I am always amazed by what each artist brings to the team and how we all create such unique and diverse cards using the same products. In full disclosure, I also look at something another team member has created and I say, "Well, duh, why didn't I think of that!?" : ) This A2 sized easel card was made using all three layers of the Viola Layering Plates and lots of purple jewel toned glitter cardstock. All supplies for today's card will be listed at the end of this post. Here is a close-up of the card to show you the beautiful intricate layering dimensions and the various shades of glitter cardstock. I often find it helpful to see how a card was made, versus reading about the process, so I have created a step-by-step video tutorial to share with you: These intricate layering plates from Birch Press Design are simply stunning, and while they do tend to involve a lot more die cutting, I find the end result is totally worth the hard work. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalList of supplies:Kokeshi is a traditional Japanese wooden doll made out of wood like cherry, Japanese male, dogwood and Japanese cypress trees. The origin of Kokeshi dates back to between the end of the Edo Period (1603-1868) and early 19th century in Northern Japan. The tradition gradually spread throughout the region and became a popular Japanese folk art. At the time in winter, artisans skilled in woodwork who usually used to make household utensils such as wooden bowls, trays, and chopsticks began making this type of doll to sell as souvenirs. Today I have created two bookmarks using the beautiful kokeshi dolls that AlexSyberia Design created for use in digital artwork. Details:I purchased the beautiful Kokeshi Doll Bundle from AlexSyberia Design on Etsy. I printed the images onto Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock and colored the images using Copic Markers. I fussy cut each doll and adhered it to a 7 3/4 x 2" piece of white cardstock using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I had lightly stamped the white background mat with a grey floral image. I mounted the white cardstock to a red cardstock and finally a black cardstock base to create a bookmark. I found an old Kanji print stamp set and placed the sentiment in red or blue ink at the top of each bookmark. I punch a hole through the top of each bookmark and fed a variety of ribbons and threads through to create colorful tassels. Lastly, I put a coat of clear Wink of Stella over each doll for added sparkle. Here is the Kokeshi Doll Bundle digital stamp from AlexSyberia Design that I used to create these bookmarks: For more information on digital stamping, please read this blog post answering many popular questions. Thanks for visiting and happy creating! XO, CrystalHello and happy Monday (again)! I had two cards that were due today, so you get a double dose of cuteness between both cards! I seem to be on a slimline cardmaking kit lately, so here is another one for you today using the fun "Little Mermaid" stamp set from Richard Garay Designs! The "Little Mermaid" stamp set is part of this month's RG Card Club kit subscription! Please see additional details below. Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. This slimline card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". Slimline cards are designed to fit into a regular #10 business sized envelope and require no additional postage. The base of this slimline card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using a 8 1/4" x 3 1/4" piece of Bristol smooth cardstock, I created the background scene using Distress Oxide inks in the colors Broken China and Antique Linen. After I had the two colors sponged onto the paper, I layed a sunray stencil over the top blue ink and inked another, darker layer of Broken China to create rays in the water to show depth in my scene. I printed out the digital "Little Mermaid" stamp set onto Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock and colored the images using Copic markers. After all of the images were colored, I used my Brother Scan and Cut 2 electronic cutting machine to cut the images (rather than fussy cutting them). After the images were cut out began to assemble them onto the card using 3M foam adhesive for additional dimension. I added a coat of Dazzling Pat to many of the images for more sparkle. Lastly, I added a couple of clear rhinestones from one of the mermaids and fish to resemble bubbles. Challenge #128 is a color challenge, so using the colors shown in the image below, share with us YOUR creations! Here is the card I created inspired by this week's challenge colors: Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using the Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Rectangle Nesting Dies, I cut the background from Crumb Cake cardstock. Using the Circle Frame dies from Newton's Nook, I cut the semi circle from white cardstock. On the upper right corner, I stamped "Zzzz" in Flirty Flamingo ink. I stamped the image from Newton's Naptime in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored it (in the challenge colors) using Copic markers. I used the coordinating Newton's Naptime dies to die cut the image out. I lined the back of the shaker frame with a piece of pink striped paper and stamped the sentiment in the upper left corner in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I created a shaker frame using a piece of acetate film and adhesive strips. I filled the shaker frame with pink sequins. Lastly, I adhered Newton napping on the outside of the shaker frame using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Are you ready to get your paws inky with us and play along to win a prize?
