Hello friends! It is new product release day again at Whimsy Stamps and today I'm happy to be sharing a fun new stamp set called "Monkey Sundae!" Typically Whimsy Stamps releases new products on the first of every month, but due to Covid-19, inventory production and shipping issues, we will be spreading out the new release products THREE times per month on the 1st, 15th and 25th! It will be almost like having a new release every week! Today's "Monkey Sundae" stamp set is perfect for me, because I LOVE ice cream. Hot fudge and banana splits yes, please! Oh, and I even loooooove the soupy melted liquid goodness left at the bottom of the bowl too! Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. This slimline card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". Slimline cards are designed to fit inside a regular #10 business sized envelope and do not require additional postage. The base of this slimline card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I used the Slimline Scallop die to cut the frame from Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. Behind each oval circle in the frame, I put a piece of Rainbow paper for added color. I then matted the entire frame with a piece of pink cardstock. I stamped the images from the Monkey Sundae stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I colored the images with Copic markers and then used my Brother Scan & Cut 2 machine to cut the images out, in lieu of fussy cutting. I adhered the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I stamped the sentiment at the top right of the card using Memento Tuxedo black ink. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the ice cream for added sparkle. I hope you have enjoyed this fun card! Head over to the Whimsy Stamps website to see more of the new release products! XO, CrystalList of supplies:

Hello readers and welcome back from the weekend! I hope you found a little time to do something crafty. Last week was my "off" shift from work and I would love to tell you that I spent a lot of time crafting, but in reality I have been doing nothing but home improvement projects! We have done everything from cleaning out closets and the attic to painting, landscaping and installing new kitchen countertops! This has been a very costly quarantine! Today I am sharing another card that I made for the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #125. This week we have a color challenge to inspire you. Our challenges run for two weeks, thereby giving you more time to create, so I have designed a second card to share with you this week that was still inspired by the same image seen below: Here is the card I created using the colors from this week's challenge: Card details:A full list of supplies (with clickable links) is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of scrap yellow polka dot paper for the first layer. Using the Gina Marie Designs Scalloped Stitched Nesting Rectangle dies, I die cut a 4" rectangle from white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in the lower right corner in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I stamped the three lemons from the Newton's Nook Lemon Twist stamp set on white scrap paper and colored them in using Copic markers. I used the coordinating Lemon Twist dies to cut the lemons out. I adhered three lemons down the left side of the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the lemons and leaves for added sparkle. Will these colors inspire YOU to create? Are you ready to get your paws inky with us and play along for a chance to win?! We will randomly select one linked entry to receive a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online shop! We will also highlight our favorites from each challenge the following Monday, so that all entries have a chance to be featured on the Newton's Nook Designs blog. Please make sure you review the challenge rules page before you link up your project! The deadline to enter is Friday, June 19th, at midnight CST. XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello and TGIF, friends! In keeping up with yesterday's coffee themed card, today's slimline card is all about bubble tea! Also called boba tea or pearl milk tea, bubble tea is a Taiwanese tea-based drink invented in the 1980s, which is shaken with ice to create the "bubbles", a foamy layer on top of the drink and chewy tapioca balls are added that typically fall to the bottom. I've got to admit, while I've only had one, I think bubble tea looks better than it tastes! It's a weird texture thing for me. Have YOU ever tried bubble tea? Card details:A full list of supplies (with clickable links) is located at the end of this post. This slimline card measures 8 1/2" x 3 1/2". A slimline card is designed to fit inside a regular #10 business sized mailing envelope with no extra postage needed. The base of this slimline card is made from Coastal Cabana cardstock. Using the Whimsy Stamps Slimline Scallop die, I cut the frame from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I lined the back of each oval window with pieces of rainbow paper from the Lawn Fawn Really Rainbow paper pack. I printed out the "Bubbly Feels" digital stamp set onto Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and colored in the images with Copic markers. I added a few highlights using a white gel pen. I fussy cut the tea cups out and adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I printed the sentiment strip also onto Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I notched the left end before adhering it to the card. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the bubble teas for added sparkle. Here is the "Bubbly Feels" stamp set by Graciellie Design that I used to create today's card: Thanks for visiting and I hope you have a wonderfully creative weekend! Today I am sharing two cards that were designed using the beautiful "Cuddle In A Cup" digital stamp set by Graciellie Design. To learn more about Graciellie, the designer and artist behind these beautiful stamps, please click here for her website. For more information about working with digital stamps, please read this blogpost that details the why's and how-to's. Card details:*Both of these cards were made the same way, simply using a different color combination. The base of each A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. For the first matted layer of each card I used a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of pink plaid or brown argyle paper. I die cut a large white scalloped oval and adhere it to the center of each card. I printed out the "Cuddle In A Cup" digital stamp set on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I colored both images with Copic markers and added highlights to each using a white Uniball gel pen. Using a small pair of craft scissors, I fussy cut the coffee image out and adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment "Thanks a Latte" in corresponding blue or pink ink on a strip of white cardstock. I notched the right side of the sentiment strip and adhere it to the top of the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the flowers for added sparkle. Here is the "Cuddle In A Cup" digital stamp set by Graciellie Design that I used to create these cards: Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalWho else struggles with making masculine cards? I know that I sure do! I know in today's society we're all about being gender inclusive and non-stereotypical, but cutesy pink dancing pigs and glittery pop-up mermaids just aren't going to cut it for my dad! With Father's Day soon approaching I know that we are all looking for some inspiration to create cards for the special men in our lives. I have found that simply by using certain colors, it is easier to achieve a more masculine look. For today's two cards, I used the Lumina Layering Plates (A, B & C) from Birch Press Design and a darker color palette of black, gold and green. I think this same card in navy blues and golds would also be an excellent combination to create a masculine card. Here is the first card I created using the "leftover" cutout circle pieces from the Lumina Layering Plate. You can see what I mean by the "leftover" cutout pieces in the video below. I could have added this cut-out back in to the original card design, but I like the idea of creating two cards from one die. Here is the second card I created using the Lumina Layering Plates: I have created a step-by-step YouTube video tutorial sharing how I made both of these cards. I like to keep my videos short and sweet, so it under 7 minutes long! I hope these cards will inspire you to try different color combinations in order to achieve a more masculine look. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalYou might also enjoy:Hello friends and happy Tuesday! Last week I shared a few different ways to use this butterfly digital stamp from Graciellie Design, but I must say, that today's rainbow colored butterfly is my favorite! Card details:The base of this A2 sized card was made from Neenah Solar white smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4 x 4" piece of black cardstock and heat embossed a woodgrain pattern onto using black embossing powder for a tone-on-tone look. I printed out the butterfly onto Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. After I colored the image, I fussy cut the butterfly using a small pair of craft scissors. I adhered the butterfly at an angle on the card using 3M foam adhesive. I die cut the word "beautiful" from both black and white cardstocks, layering the two together, before adhering them onto the right side of the butterfly. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the entire butterfly for added sparkle. Here is the "Change is Coming" digital stamp set that I used to create today's card: Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative weekend! XO, CrystalYou might also enjoy:Hello readers and welcome back from the weekend! I hope you found a little time to do something crafty. Today we have a new challenge to share with you at Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #125. Using the colors shown in the image below, share with us YOUR creations! Here is the card that I created inspired by this week's color challenge: Card details:A full list of supplies (with clickable links) is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a frame from white cardstock using the Altenew Watercolor Stripes Cover die. I lined the area behind the frame with a yellow polka dot paper. I stamped the Newton's Nook Sunflower Days stamp set twice in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock. I colored in both sunflowers with the colors from the challenge (orange, green, yellow and turquoise). I cut both of the sunflowers using the coordinating Sunflower Days die. I die cut a 3" circle from vellum cardstock and stamped the sentiment in black Staz-On ink. I adhered the vellum circle to the center of the card and added the two bouquets of sunflowers as though they were cascading down the card. Lastly I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the sunflowers for added sparkle. Are you ready to get your paws inky with us and play along to win a prize? XO, CrystalList of supplies: This weekend I will be participating in the Whimsy Stamps Virtual Weekend. If you are available anytime over the next two days, please join us Saturday and Sunday, June 6th and 7th, from 9 AM to 6 PM for lots of inspiration and ideas from project tutorials and YouTube videos to card challenges, free digital stamp releases, prizes, giveaways and interactive games! For this special event, I created a gift boxed set of cards using two of the FREE digital stamps that will be released during this weekend's event. Here is a step-by-step video tutorial showing how I created this set: Thanks for visiting and I hope to "see" you at this weekend's virtual Facebook event! XO, Crystal
As promised yesterday, today I am back sharing another way to use the beautiful, big butterfly digital stamp from Graciellie Design called "Change is Coming." Since I have been sharing a lot of cards featuring digital stamps recently, I wanted to remind you of this blog post I wrote that goes into more detail about working with digital (or digistamps) should you have any questions.
Here is the "Change is Coming" stamp set that I used to create this card:
Card details:
*A full list of supplies (with clickable links) is located at the end of this post.
The base of this A2 sized card is made from kraft cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Calypso Coral cardstock for the first mat. I cut a 5" x 3 3/4" piece of Neenah Solar white smooth cardstock for the second mat. I ran this sheet of white cardstock through my Big Shot using a retired Stampin' UP! polka dot embossing folder to give the paper some texture. I printed out the digital butterfly onto Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and colored it using Copic markers. After coloring the image, I fussy cut the butterfly using a small pair of craft scissors. I adhered the butterfly to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I die cut the word "beautiful" from both Calypso Coral and Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. I layered the two words together using a liquid glue and then adhered both to the card using 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the butterfly for added sparkle.
There are just so many ways to color and use this beautiful butterfly, that I do hope you like at least one of my various ideas. Tomorrow I will share the fourth and final (and my personal favorite!) butterfly design.
