Hello readers and welcome back from the weekend! I hope you found a little time to do something crafty. Last week was my "off" shift from work, so I spent the majority of my days doing a LOT of that. Today I am sharing another card that I made for the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #123. This week we have a sketch challenge to inspire you. Our challenges run for two weeks, thereby giving you more time to create, so I have designed a second card to share with you this week that was still inspired by the same image seen below: Here is the dreamy scene I created inspired by this week's sketch: Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. I used a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of scrap paper featuring a cloudy sky pattern for the background. I cut three rectangle strips of white cardstock for the three panels in the sketch. I layered a pink strip of cardstock along the bottom and stamped "Bonjour" in pink ink in the lower right corner. I wrapped a piece of linen thread around the card. I stamped some of the images from the Newton Dreams of Paris stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. I colored the images with Copic markers and used the coordinating Newton Dreams of Paris dies to cut them out. I adhered the various images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I added a coat of clear Wink of Stella to the images for added sparkle. Will this sketch inspire YOU to create? Are you ready to get your paws inky with us and play along for a chance to win?! We will randomly select one linked entry to receive a $20 store credit to the Newton's Nook Designs online shop! We will also highlight our favorites from each challenge the following Monday, so that all entries have a chance to be featured on the Newton's Nook Designs blog. Please make sure you review the challenge rules page before you link up your project! The deadline to enter is Friday, May 22nd, at midnight CST. XO, CrystalList of supplies:

Hello readers and happy Saturday! Today I am sharing a new digital stamp set called "Making It" from the RG Avenue Monthly Card Club. I'll be the first to admit that when I saw this geometic shaped stamp set, I was quite hesitant that it wasn't necessarily "my style." But, part of being a designer and artist, means being unafraid to take chances and experiment with things outside of your comfort zone. I was very pleasantly surprised with how these cards turned out using a rainbow theme of colors! Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. Using the Altenew Watercolor Stripes Cover Die, I cut the background from Black Taffy sugar stock. I printed the butterflies from the "Making It' stamp set on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. I cut the butterflies out using my Brother Scan and Cut 2 machine. I adhered the butterflies to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I adhered some black baker's twine under the sentiment. Lastly, I coated the butterflies with a layer of Dazzling Pat for added sparkle. Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. Using the Altenew Watercolor Stripes Cover Die, I cut the background frame from white cardstock. I lined the frame with green gingham paper. I printed the roses from the "Making It' stamp set on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. I cut the roses using my Brother Scan and Cut 2 machine. I adhered them to the card using 3M foam adhesive. I adhered the sentiment in the upper left corner also with foam adhesive. Lastly, I coated the roses with a layer of Dazzling Pat for added sparkle. Here is the "Making It' digital stamp set that I used to create today's set of cards: Monthly Card Club:Subscribe, Receive and Create! It’s that simple! XO, CrystalHello friends and happy Friday! I'm sorry that I've been absent for most of this week, but I simply needed to take a few days off to rest and recharge. Yes, I have still been in my craft room designing and creating, but every now and then I do enjoy taking a welcome break from social media and blogging. Today I am excited to be sharing a beautiful digital stamp called "Happiness Blooms" from Scottish designer Rachel Vass of Rachel Vass Designs. Rachel's designs were new to me until about two weeks ago when I saw some card samples on Instagram using her beautiful floral designs. I was able to purchase a few of her designs, including this "Happiness Blooms" digital stamp from her Etsy website. Along with highlighting these beautiful stamps, I've also created elegant backgrounds using tone-on-tone embossing with black embossing powder on black cardstock. Card details:*A full list of supplies is located at the end of this post. Both of these cards were made the same way, simply using different color combinations. Each A2 sized card was made from Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of black cardstock and heat embossed a floral leafy stamp on it using black embossing powder. I printed out the beautiful flowers on Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and used Copic markers to color the flowers. I then fussy cut the flowers by hand and adhered them to the black background using thin strips of 3M foam adhesive for dimension. I used the Hello word layering dies from Honey Bee Stamps. I cut one layer in pink (or peach) cardstock and one thinner "hello" in white cardstock. I layered the two sentiments together and adhered them to the card with 3M foam adhesive. Lastly, I added a couple clear gems to the card that resemble water droplets. I really like the look of the black-on-black embossing and think it provides a striking background to the brightly colored flowers. Thank you for visiting and have a wonderfully creative weekend! XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello readers and welcome back from the weekend! I hope you found a little time to do something crafty. I frequently hear from friends and fellow stampers that they aren't creative enough to design something on their own, or that they don't know what colors to use. They feel frustrated before they even begin because they don't know where to begin. I understand! Yes, I've been there too! That's the concept behind a card challenge. It can help to inspire you and get the creative juices flowing by giving you a place to start. Challenge #123 by Newton's Nook is a sketch challenge. Let the image below be your inspiration for creating a card (or scrapbook page) and see where this challenge takes you! I'm not going to lie, I really struggled with this sketch layout! All I could see in those three tall blocks were Christmas trees, but it's FAR too early for Christmas designs! I tried many different design ideas before I came up with an idea I was happy with: Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I lined the card base with a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of light blue gingham paper. I die cut three scalloped rectangles from Balmy Blue cardstock and adhered those to the top half of the card. I adhered a small strip of yellow polka dot paper below the rectangles. I stamped the sentiment in Memento Tuxedo black ink on a 4 1/4" x 1/2" strip of white cardstock. I stamped the Newton's Nook Dainty Daisies in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on white cardstock. I colored the daisies with Copic markers and die cut them using the coordinating Dainty Daisies die. I adhered the daisies to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella to the daisies for added sparkle. Lastly, I tied a piece of linen thread around the card for texture. XO, CrystalList of supplies:Today I am humbled to share two cards with you in honor of healthcare workers. This beautiful and very relevant digital stamp set called "Angels in Disguise" is from Graciellie Design. The elegant scripted sentiments and powerful images convey the profound gratitude and appreciation we all wish to convey to these selfless and dedicated essential workers. Meet Graciela Chavez:My name is Graciela Chávez, but my crafty friends call me Gracie. The name Graciellie (Gracie Ellie) is actually a nickname given to me by my family in Brazil. I was born in Brazil, nevertheless I have lived most of my life in Central America. I speak three languages fluidly: Spanish, Portuguese and of course English, but I decided to write and share my content in English. Both my parents were very creative, and they influenced me greatly. I dedicated the first part of my life to music, at the same time that I studied Laws and Business Management. These majors had nothing to do with art but I’ve always been a creative person and so, without planning it, I found myself starting this new creative venture. I’m married, and I have the privilege of being the happy mom a bright and loving 6 year old boy and a sweet baby girl. Spending time with family is what truly makes me happy. I love cardmaking but once in a while I like to make mixed media and art journaling projects. I started making cards since I was a child, and I used to collect stickers, diaries, notebooks and stationery papers. Around 2010 I discovered stamping and little by little cardmaking became my hobby. I’ve had crafty hobbies before, like jewelry making, but cardmaking stole my heart from day one. I have always loved paper, so it was no surprise to my family that I started a papercrafting blog. Since I opened my blog I’ve felt even more captivated by this craft. This blog has allowed me to connect with other artists and has given me so many opportunities for which I’m thankful. I order all my crafting supplies online, since there aren’t any major craft stores where I live. I love every kind of style but I find myself working mostly on Clean & Layered and Mixed Media designs. Dies, white cardstock, stamps, inks, glue, Deco Foil, stencils, sequins and anything mixed media are must-haves in my craft room, but of course, I can never have enough arts and craft supplies! Lately, technology has played a big role in my arts and crafts too. Also, I’ve surrounded myself with lots of art supplies -from paints to pastels and such-. More than ever my work is becoming very technique driven… "Angels in Disguise" digital stamp set:You can click on the logo below to see more of Gracie's designs, read her blog and admire her beautiful art. Thank you for visiting! Stay healthy and stay home. You just might be saving the life of someone you may never know. XO, CrystalHello crafty friends! I am excited to be sharing a new video with you today that I created for the RG Avenue monthly newsletter. This newsletter will be emailed to all RG Avenue subscribers, but I have also put the video on YouTube and will be sharing it here with you today at the end of this post if you would like to learn some simple watercoloring. You can also view my full video tutorial gallery HERE. Card details:*A full supply list is located at the end of this post. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I cut a piece of 5" x 3 3/4" piece of Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock. Using the Layered Scallop stamp set, I stamped half of the scalloped image in Sour Mist ink on the lower half of the white cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner also using Sour Mist ink. I splattered the entire image with Sweet Lavender ink. Using Scalloped Stitched Rectangle dies, I cut a piece of Sour Mist cardstock and matted the stamped image to that before adhering both to the card base. I heat embossed the feathers with gold embossing powder and watercolored them with Sour Mist ink, Sweet Pink ink and Sweet Lavender ink. Lastly, I tied a small bow around the card for added texture. Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from Sour Mist cardstock. On a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of mixed media paper, I created a watercolor wash background in Sour Mist ink, Sweet Pink ink and Sweet Lavender ink. I splattered the entire background with Sweet Lavender ink. On coordinating cardstock, I stamped the feathers from the Perfectly Blessed stamp set in Versamark ink and heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I fussy cut each flower and adhered it to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Lastly, I stamped each sentiment below the feather in Black Taffy ink. Here is a YouTube video tutorial that I created showing how you can make these watercolored cards: I have truly begin to enjoy creating video tutorials for you, and I hope YOU are enjoying them. Thanks for visiting and have a wonderfully creative day! XO, CrystalList of supplies:Hello friends! Today I am over on the Birch Press Design blog sharing these two cards using the Thankful Mandala stamp set. I chose to work with this stamp set because it was something very different for me, and I'm so happy that I decided to challenge myself because I love how these cards came out! The very first thing I did after receiving this stamp was to actually cut it down! Yes, this was equally as scary as it sounds! I knew this could go wonderfully right, or horribly wrong really quick and that I was taking a chance at potentially ruining a $25 stamp set! But, I didn't particularly like the large square shape of the mandala, so I trimmed off the outermost layer to give more of a peacock edge shape. I regret that I did not take a picture of this process so you could see exactly what I mean. Fortunately, it worked out just fine! Phew! Card details:The base of this A2 sized card is made from 80 lb. Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. I stamped the large mandala in Versamark ink on black cardstock and then heat embossed it with gold embossing powder. I cut the mandala in half in order to separate it on the card. I adhered each half to the top and bottom of the card base. I die cut the larger outline word "thanks" from gold foil paper and the smaller word outline from black cardstock. I mounted the two together using a Tombow tape runner and adhered both to the center of the card using foam adhesive. Lastly, I stamped the sentiment "for all you do" in the middle of the card in Memento Tuxedo black ink. Card details:For the second card, my card base is a sheet of turquoise cardstock. I stamped the mandala in Versamark ink on another sheet of turqoise cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I trimmed the image down to 5" x 3 3/4" and mounted this stamped mandala onto a scalloped sheet of white cardstock. I adhered both sheets to the card base. I die cut the word "hugs" from both gold foil paper and white cardstock, layering the two together using a Tombow tape runner. I stamped the words "it's your birthday" in Versamark ink on a thin strip of turquoise cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I notched both ends before adhering it to the card below the word "hugs" using 3M foam adhesive. Thanks for visiting and I hope today's post will encourage YOU to try using a stamp set that might be a bit out of your comfort zone! You just might find that the end results were worth it. The base of this A2 sized card is made from Basic Black cardstock. I cut a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of black plaid paper for the background. I used the Lawn Fawn Grassy Hillside pop-up die to die cut the grass from green pinstriped paper. I die cut a scalloped circle from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock and stamped the sentiment "You make me a happy camper" from the Newton's Nook "Cozy Camper" stamp set in the upper right corner in Memento Tuxedo black ink. I adhered the circle to the center of the card. I stamped the campers, patio set and flamingos in Memento Tuxedo black ink on white cardstock and colored the images with Copic markers. I die cut the images using the coordinating "Cozy Camper" dies. I adhered the images to the card using 3M foam adhesive for added dimension. Will these colors inspire YOU to create? Unfortunately, I have been battling a stomach bug for the better part of the last four days, so I haven't felt quite like myself. But, then again, we are currently two months into a quarantine, NO ONE feels like themself right now! Today's card features nearly all of the beautiful floral images from the Bold Bouquet digital stamp set by RG Avenue. I have been making a lot of floral themed cards lately and I feel like they are my favorite. I go back and forth between different techniques (watercolor, distress oxides, etc.) and different images (cutesy or elegant), but floral cards are always a win and are appropriate for such a wide variety of occasions. Here is the Bold Bouquet digital stamp set from RG Avenue that I used to create today's card: Thank you for visiting and enjoy the rest of your Sunday! XO, CrystalHello friends and happy Friday! The base of this slimline card is made from Neenah Solar White Smooth cardstock. Using the Wavy Edgers die set, the sand is cut from Basic Gray cardsock and the ocean waves are cut from Coastal Cabana cardstock. I added a thin layer of Lawn Fawn's Chunky Glitter on the sand for added sparkle. The background was made from sponging Tim Holtz Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide ink through the Whimsy Stamps Sun Rays stencil. I stamped the sentiment in the upper left corner in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped all three hippos and the starfish from the Beach Hippos stamp set on Neenah Solar White smooth cardstock and colored them with Copic markers.
